EL NINO Awareness Programme

Agriculture University El-Nino Combat Team (AUECT) from Sri Kinjarapu Yerrannaidu College of Agricultural Sciences (SKYCAS) , KVK Kondempudi  and RARS Anakapalli has organised group meetings with farmers of different villages, to guide them in this critical period of Elnino and  suggested short duration varieties in paddy and advised farmers to opt for paddy crop insurance  to minimize losses due to climate risks during El Nino.

Scientists also encouraged cultivation of diancha as a green manuring crop to improve soil organic matter, reduce sodicity, and enhance soil fertility for the next paddy season and sunhemp as seed production which increases the farmers income. The Scientists also distributed moringa seedlings to farmers in pottidorapalem , Lopudi , Bangarumetta villages under KVK, Kondempudi.
